Christmas comes in strange ways for the out-of-work Amendola family, who struggle to take over an apartment occupied by the former tenant’s performing squirrel, Rupert. As a giftless Christmas nears for the Amendolas, the concept of redistribution of wealth takes on new meaning. The landlord has stashed a monthly stipend of $1,500 in the wall where Rupert lodges. He starts showering the money down into hands of Mrs. Amendola who has prayed for a miracle. The Amendolas further re-distribute their new found wealth by investing it in neighborhood businesses, until those who have not benefited from their largess become jealous and launch an investigation. Things come full circle when the uninsured Landlord’s house burns down. The Amendolas come to the rescue, build him a new house and Rupert re-unites with his trainer and goes on star on Broadway!
