This newest film from award-winning writer Nigel Calder (EINSTEIN’S UNIVERSE), features Peter Ustinov as host in a frightening and visually explicit examination of four possible scenarios for nuclear holocaust. The focal points for the program are four “nightmares” that imagine circumstances leading to nuclear conflict. Ustinov’s chilling examination of each possible route to nuclear war culminates in a sequence set in a fallout shelter where, in the aftermath of each calamity, he reveals how it happened. NUCLEAR NIGHTMARES was filmed in West Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium and Israel; and includes footage of U.S., Soviet, and NATO defense system. In addition, rarely seen footage of Soviet soldiers in action at nuclear missile bases have been incorporated.
